Mandatory HIV Testing Procedure Changes

PA 320 of 2010 provides for several mandatory changes to HIV testing procedures, effective January 1, 2011.

These changes impact practitioners and health facilities that order HIV testing for the purpose of diagnosing HIV. 

To decrease barriers and increase access to HIV testing in health care facilities, the Michigan Legislature amended the Public Health Code HIV testing law for the first time since the initial testing statute was enacted in 1989.
