Student/Resident Case Study Poster Application
Applications and Guidelines

Application deadline:  December 15, 2026

MAOFP is now accepting student/resident poster applications for our poster session to be held on Saturday, January 16, 2027 at Shanty Creek Resort, Bellaire, MI.  The first author must be present to display each accepted poster.

Speaker Guidelines:

•  Student/Resident Original Research or Case Study posters may apply
• One abstract is permitted per FIRST author; one can be a co-author on several submissions 
• Submit your abstract and IRB approval (if applicable) 
• The first author must be a member of MAOFP in good standing.  If you are not a member students and residents may join for free
• In accordance with ACOFP submission standards, the MAOFP recommends that each participant establishes their own faculty mentor to review all scholarly activity prior to submission, as the mentor will not be assigned by MAOFP.
• No abstract application fee to MAOFP members

• All authors’ names, titles, and e-mail addresses must accompany each abstract
• Presentation at MAOFP does not preclude abstract submission or publication elsewhere
• Abstract limited to 350 words, not including title, authors, institutions, and references
• Abstract submission implies the authenticity of your work, and that all co-authors have been notified of this submission
• Abstract will be forwarded to a peer review committee upon submission
• Applicants will be notified of acceptance at the latest on Thursday,  December 31, 2026
• Accepted posters should be printed and transported in a protective tube.

• Poster dimensions are recommended to be 3’ x 4’ and should be mounted on foam board via push pins at the meeting (Foam board and push pins provided by MAOFP)
• Poster to remain on display until Saturday, January 16, 2027, at 6 p.m.
• All posters not removed by Saturday, January 16, 2027, at 8:00 p.m. will be discarded.
• Presenters are strongly encouraged to be present at your poster during the scheduled breaks during the day on Saturday, January 16, 2027, 7 am- 5:00 pm.
• Case Study Abstracts will be judged on the following categories: Title, Relevance to Family Medicine, Introduction, Discussion, Visual Presentation, Oral Presentation.
• Scientific Abstracts will be judged on the following categories: Title, Relevance to Family Medicine, Data, Analysis, Visual Presentation, Oral Presentation. 
  
• A scheduled time for presentations to be judged by the panel will be assigned and communicated to participants prior to the event.
