The goal of the AOA's continuing medical education (CME) program is continued excellence of patient care and improving the health and well-being of the individual patient and the public. The purpose of the CME program is the growth of knowledge, the refinement of skills and the deepening the understanding of the osteopathic profession.

The Council on CME reviewed the entire CME program and firmly believes the goals of the CME program remain valid. AOA members, other than those exempted, are required to participate in the CME program and to meet specified CME credit hour requirements for each three-year CME cycle.
